The first section of the El Dorado Trail to open. The Class 1 (paved) bike path and pedestrian and equestrian (side path with decomposed granite) starts at Mosquito Road across the street from the Placeville Bus Station. It continues to Jaquier Road (about 1.75 miles). The user then turns north onto Jaquier Road to meet the extension (at 2 miles). The Class 1 trail then continues over Highway 50 via the unmotorized bridge to Park Way Drive (about 3.25 miles). The trail continues as an improved gravel/dirt path to the end at Camino Heights (about 6.3 miles).
